Subhash

Subhash Dhunoohchand Once in a while, there emerges a musician who, through his genius, injects that spark necessary to elevate an instrument to another level of expression and appreciation. Borned in Mauritius, Subhash belongs to the famous Ajrara Gharana and is the disciple of Pt Sudhir Kumar Saxena from Baroda (India) and has also studied at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute (Mauritius). He was initiated into music by his father Shri Balram Dhunoohchand who was a folk singer. His virtuosity and layakari have given his playing a unique character. He has been participating in several prestigious Jazz and World Music Festivals in Europe (Sweden, Denmark, England, France, Holland, Spain and Germany) and Asia (India, Singapore and Bangladesh). He has accompanied many great musicians such as Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pradeep Barot , Rupak Kulkarni , Pt Budhaditya Mukherjee , Pt Vidyadhar Vyas , Archana Saxena, Sazed Ul Alam , Pt Satish Vyas , Lars Gullikson , Anatholi Bulkin , Ola Melander , Trilock Gurtu, Sheela Raman, and the folk group of Reunion Island call Baster.
