Advice on synths? - 2007/06/25 01:52 Are there any good sampled soft synths out there for hindustani classical music? MOTU's Ethno Instrument has a few, but a ton of stuff I just don't need. Also, I have heard not so good things about its indian sounds. I stumbled across this other plugin softsynth: SwarPlug. http://www.swarsystems.com/
Anyone heard/tried this?

For reference, I use Ableton Live 6.

Re:Advice on synths? - 2007/06/27 04:24 personally i wouldn't recommend swarplug. it's overused, overpriced and it's a memory hog. check out knagalis for sitar and tamboura. i can't think of a good source for tablas maybe someone else can recommend.

Re:Advice on synths? - 2008/01/30 23:48 I'd recommend swarplug enthusiastically. I use it with Ableton Live with pleasure and without any problems. But I'll be sure to checkout knagalis. Thanks Notecrusher.

On a related note samplesquad has some nice eastern samples.

I also came across a Harmonium at PrecisionSound
