With roots dating back to Montreal's Eclectica parties in 2001, and ensuing Tablatronic and Sounds of South Asia gigs in Manhattan's Lower East Side/East Village held through 2004/05, Dishoom! brings a world of experience to the mix - we are indianelectronica.com's monthly event and the official Six Degrees Night in Toronto.
Our motive in hosting Dishoom is not fame our fortune; if we charge cover for an event it is always no more than $10 and goes to supporting the performers. We try our best to create a warm, friendly and comfortable atmosphere - transforming lounges and bars in downtown Toronto with music and eclectic decor from around the world.

The word 'Dishoom' is basically the Bollywood equivalent of Batman-esque 'Kappowww' or 'BAAAMMM.'
We chose the name because everything about our gigs is both fun and surprising - from the venues (we're nomadic and pretty much change space every month), to the programming to the decor!

At Dishoom, expect a sampling of cutting-edge electronica from around the world. Our base is in South Asian musical tradition but our mandate is to take that base and weave a complex aural tapestry from it - using music from around the planet and the most innovative technology.
Every month we showcase performances by DJs and bands local to Toronto as well as international guests and you're sure to hear the same creative sounds @Dishoom that you expect from the Indian Electronica Festival installments around the world.
Our affiliation with Six Degrees from San Francisco means that you'll hear releases from this epic globally-conscious label before they hit the shops and get great goodies like free audio downloads and CDs :) !
