  • the printed word  ( 1 items )

Find out about books and magazine articles you can pick up that relate something to do with music

  • live shows  ( 12 items )

Every now and again we get off the computer and throw our headphones to the wind to check out some great artists showcased on the site playing at live venues around the world - here's what we thought of their gigs. (BTW - we also throw our own events so check out the calender for listings!)

  • Breakbeat  ( 6 items )

Essentially a 'break' is that section in a song where the drummer (typically found in funk a la James Brown) cuts loose and dishes some crazy rhythms within the general time signature of the rest of the song. Old skool hip hoppers extended the break and we see this category as a type of music relying on that funky percussion for a majority of the song-structure.

  • D'n'B / Jungle  ( 5 items )

Generally up-tempo grooves with more-than-four on four timing. This concept has been used a lot in early 'Asian Underground' recordings from the UK.

  • Downtempo  ( 16 items )

Basically, we use this category for slow music that generally won't be found in dance clubs - more loungy, relaxing cuts that may vary in musical style and cultural background.

And you thought we only listen to Indian Music!
