The main stage promises to deliver the hottest acts this summer. Headliners includes Pakistan’s Atif Aslam, making his first UK appearance, Pascal of Bollywood, a Frenchman who went to Bollywood and came back a singing sensation, and Chirag Pechchan, who will perform with Amarjit Sidhu and Mangal Singh. Other acts include Ajay, Hard Kaur, and Menis Nazza.12pm-12.40pm: Sher Miandad Qawwal Sher Miandad Khan is one of the most recognized Qawwals of Pakistan, singing in Urdu and Panjabi. Rooted in Sufi traditions, Sher Miandad sings out of discretion and humility. As the resident qawwal and composer at the shrine of Sufi saint Baba Farid-ud-Din, he offers melodies that are deep and moving, thoughts that are pure and mesmeric. 1pm-1.45pm: Ajay With a focus on funky world beats, hypnotic melodies and distinctive guitar playing, Ajay has developed an infectious sound that is all his own. 2pm-2.15pm: Hard Kaur The UK's first Asian queen of hip-hop, who represents inner city life, the Asian belief system and the attitudes of today's often misguided youth. 2.30pm-2.40pm: Alyssia and Ms Scandalous With her current album called Ladies First, Ms Scandalous is the first lady of the Panjabi Hit Squad and the desi scene. Alyssia also featured on the album hits Spread love and Gal Sun and is touring this summer. 2.40pm-2.50pm: speeches 2.55pm-3.15pm: Menis and Nazza T Menis and Nazza T exploded onto the Brit-Asian music scene last year with their smash hit radio anthem ‘Sshh!’ and followed up the success of their debut track with their album 'Spot The Difference'. 3.20pm-3.40pm: Mentor Kolektiv Consists of Panjabi vocalists Des-C, MC AC,and DJ Mr Mak, as well as female vocalist Angela, and Karik. 3.40pm-4.20pm: Bollywood Steps The London Mela presents the national tour of Nutkhut’s ‘Bollywood Steps’ by Simmy Gupta. Originally co-commissioned by the Mayor of London, Greenwich Council and Docklands International Festival, Simmy Gupta creates a celebration of Bollywood films - the glamour, the wet sari scene, quick costumes changes, boy meets girl, and the marriage. This high energy performance features Bhangra, hip hop, classical Indian dance, salsa, jazz and flamenco - as well as spectacular lighting, pyrotechnics and water effects. 4.20pm-5.15pm: Chirag Pechchan The original pioneers of British Bhangra who have influenced numerous Bhangra artists, Amarjit Sidhu and Mangal Singh return for the first time in 20 years or a very special one-off concert. 5.40pm-6.35pm: Pascal of Bollywood Pascal of Bollywood is a Frenchman who went to Bollywood and came back a singing sensation. Pascal Héni (the performer's passport name) has won fame in India thanks to his enthusiastic covers of made-in-India soundtracks. This will be his first performance in the UK. 6.55pm-7.50pm: Atif Aslam This sensational rock-influenced artist and his band are taking the world by storm. Hailing from Pakistan, the live collective is making its UK debut fresh from a US tour. Atif Aslam and his band bring to Europe the contemporary sound of South Asia. 7.50pm-8.30pm: Grand finale with Bollywood Steps For our spectacular finale event for 2006, the London Mela presents the national tour of Nutkhut’s ‘Bollywood Steps’ by Simmy Gupta.
