Toronto, Ontario Canada September 3rd, 2007 – Cutting-edge South Asian-flavoured electronic music hits international stages: the 2007 series of Indian Electronica Festivals continues in New York City on September 20th.

The Indian Electronica Festival is an international experience; in 2007 with Festival instalments held in Toronto, London UK, NYC, New Delhi and Bombay:  5 cities, 4 countries, 3 continents with each instalment showcasing cutting-edge South Asian flavoured electronic music - consisting of a single event between 6 -10 hours long, mixing live musical performances plus Djs, Visual Artists and dancers.

'Indian Electronica' is a Canadian-based online community, record label, radio station and annual international music festival - all focused on showcasing cutting edge electronic music inspired by South Asian traditions.

Initially popularized in the mid 1990s with the UK's Asian Underground movement, the music of Indian Electronica is expressive of an increasingly complex global identity.  Indian Electronica music fuses 'East' and 'West' using technology and tradition to produce some of the World's most innovative, emotive and exciting sounds.

Collectively, there are a fantastic array of North American and International artists coming together on stage in New York City for 2007 including a live (band) performance by Shaair + Func; an act comprising of artists based in Mumbai and NYC, whose lead guitarist is the founder of India's premier Rock outfit; Pentagram.  From Canada, Toronto's duo The Nawtiks will be performing a home-grown set of their own indo-funk material whilst Abdul Smooth provides visuals through the night.  Shamik, a human beatboxer from Calgary, is scheduled to perform at points through the night.  In addition to acts from outside the USA, NYC will fully be represented behind the decks with DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid – who shall be joined by DK (aka Bollygirl), Tito G and Sharmaji.  Washington DC's v:shal kanwar will be doing a live set as well – featuring two Mcs, tabla and turntablism.
