Yam Boy

"I'm bringing the safi-styles to london... A Folktronic set combining electronic soundscapes and acoustic guitarstrumming, with wry songs about the fantastical, outlandish and poignant lives of modern-day superheroes and storytellers... Album: 'Superheroic' coming soon... oh, and lots of comedy covers. "

Having recently jumped into the UK music scene, Yam Boy describes himself as "a well-oiled poet machine." His rapping and poetical styles are as much influenced by Radiohead's Thom Yorke as they are by Chuck D, Saul Williams and Rabindranath Tagore. With rhyming style steeped in politics and spiritual rhetoric, Yam Boy's tunes are deliciously dowsed in ghee and deep-fried. Born in North West London, Yam has moved across the city to reside in Brixton, soaking in the slam poetry scene around him, performing at venues such as Brixtongue, the Bug Bar and the Ritzy Cinema.
